The identification and monitoring of each link in the food chain is of particular importance for ensuring public health and protecting consumer interests in general. Fertilizer products constitute the most important group of agricultural inputs, with a wide variety of formulations and nutrient contents, having a direct effect on plant growth, productivity, and product quality, while also impacting food safety.

The applicable legal and sub-legal acts regulate in detail the procedure for registering fertilizer products (FP) in Albania. The applicant must first complete the online application on the e-Albania platform. Upon completion of the form, the following must be attached:

·        Technical details of the fertilizer products in English or Albanian;

·        Label translated into Albanian, which must include elements such as: product classification; formulation; appearance; usage; storage conditions; health and environmental protection; applicant details; producer and importer; production date; registration number and date, etc.;

·        MSDS translated into Albanian, containing the 16 required sections;

·        Manufacturer’s authorization for the Albanian company, expressly granting competence to register/import and market the products in the Republic of Albania;

·        Laboratory tests;

·        A sample of the product to be registered, which must be sent to the QTTB once the online application is accepted.

Depending on the group and type of product, the registration validity in the Republic of Albania ranges from 4 to 7 years.
